Harness the FULL Power of the Internet

eMarketing Management that increase revenue!

Secure Your Company Website

Secure your company website to protect sensitive data, maintain brand reputation, ensure a safe user experience, and to increase revenue. Although there are many steps vital to improve your website’s security, this article is focused on securing your website with a security certificate, known as SSLs and TLS certificates.

SSLs and TLS certificates use https, instead of just http. Secure your website by enabling https (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure). Your website hosting company issues SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates to encrypt data transmitted between the user’s browser and your server. There used to be a padlock icon to signal a secure website and to build trust. Now, the padlock has been updated to a tone icon.

Editor’s note: based on industry research (from Chrome and others), and the ubiquity of HTTPS, we will be replacing the lock icon in Chrome’s address bar with a new “tune” icon – both to emphasize that security should be the default state, and to make site settings more accessible. Google updated padlock to tune icon.

If Your Website Does Not Have an SSL or if Your Website SSL has Expired.

Your website has the following issues:

  • Security Risks: Without SSL, cybercriminals can intercept and modify data transmitted via insecure connections (HTTP). Personal information, including payment details, becomes vulnerable.
  • Diminished Trust: Browsers flag non-SSL sites as “Not Secure.” Visitors may avoid such sites, impacting traffic and conversion rates.
  • SEO Impact: Major search engines, like Google Chrome, penalize non-SSL sites by lowering their search engine rankings.
  • User Experience: Users may perceive your site as less trustworthy, affecting brand perception.
  • Legal and Financial Risks: Data breaches due to lack of encryption can lead to legal consequences and financial losses.

Types of SSL Certificate Errors:

  • ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR: This occurs when a browser can’t verify the SSL certificate, resulting in an error message.
  • Expired or Invalid Certificate: If your SSL certificate has expired or is invalid, browsers won’t trust your site.

Steps to Resolve SSL Issues:

Fire your webmaster and hire us to check Your SSL status

* Ensure your site’s URL starts with “https://” and look for the padlock or tune icon.

* Use an SSL checker.

* Renew or Acquire SSL.

* Configure Proxy Servers: If using a proxy server, ensure it allows SSL traffic.

* Update Whois Email Address: Keep your Whois email address up to date.

Remember, having an SSL certificate is critical for website security, trust, and overall website performance. Don’t delay in securing your site!
